Proof of Concept (PoC) Program

A key feature of Fiber Connect 2024 is the Proof of Concept (PoC) program, which this year focuses on Connected Home services. This program, in partnership with the Broadband Forum, aims to demonstrate the real-world applications and interoperability of fiber technology. It will represent how fiber's capacity, scale, latency, and security improve Connected Home services, offering practical benefits and versatility for end-users. 

The PoC demonstrations will utilize BBF's interoperability certifications, such as BBF.247 GPON ONU and BBF.369 User Services Platform (USP), and will reflect on cutting-edge applications in IoT, AI, security, and Smart Home technologies​.

Looking Back: Fiber Connect 2023 PoC Highlights

The Proof of Concept (PoC) Showcase at Fiber Connect 2023 demonstrated fiber technology's disruptive potential with seven innovative presentations:

• Most Innovative Award: Infinera and LightRiver for their multi-vendor FTTX PON network, utilizing a 400G DWDM Middle Mile point-to-multipoint solution.

• Best Community Impact Award: Ciena's broadband architecture, leveraging disaggregation and virtualization.

• Game Changer Award: Nokia's granular network performance control from the IP core to user appliances.

These PoCs illustrated fiber technology's capacity to drive innovation, transform market dynamics, and expand the realm of possibilities, embodying the theme "When fiber leads, the future follows," setting a strong foundation for Fiber Connect 2024​.
